Today we mourn the loss of our friend and band mate, Bill Busche. He passed peacefully this morning.
The Stone Frigate Big Band was formed in 1995 and Bill was one of the band’s first members. The band has grown and evolved over the past twenty years, but we have always valued the friendships we have developed and shared with each other. Bill was a core member of the social and musical fabric of our band. We will miss him dearly.
We have played, sorrowed and laughed together. We have grown together to become the group of friends that we are today. We got married, raised families and lost loved ones. But your passing leaves us with a deep sense of sorrow and personal loss.
Thank you for your wit and humour that made us all laugh so much. Thank you your musicianship. Your trumpet playing was a integral part of our sound. And your virtuosic mastery of the harmonica amazed us.
Thank you for sharing your family – especially Lonnie, Kay and Keith – with us. Some of our best memories are of our time and all-night sing alongs with you and your family in Imperial in the years we played to support your high school band.
Thank you, Bill, for sharing so much of your life and yourself with us. We are all better for having known you, and you will always be a part of us.
